Close of another Week
As this week draws to a close, it became apparent that I needed to clarify a couple of aspects of my business. It is a Wholly Veteran owned and Veteran Friendly Business. I served in the Air Force and was Honorably discharged. My husband served 33 years in the Army. He gave a lot to the military. He retired after all those years with a 90% disability rating from the VA. This business is as much about my love of community, education, and keeping alive traditions as it is about providing a way for veterans with PTSD to have a place to learn to relax and focus themselves into a healthier sense of mental well-being. I'm going to make sure my website addresses this and will be reaching out to the VA to make sure they know about Revival's and what we have to offer. I hope that someday this business will partner with them to provide services that can aid in rehabilitation for military members. Art has been used as a therapeutic tool. With all the types of fiber art that will be available to learn here, harnessing creativity, and allowing for focused practice. All I see is benefit in the end.
Every day as a military spouse you pray that your soldier is safe. You hope this is the last deployment you have to endure and that your soldier comes home safe. Hope is a great thing but typically when they enter a war zone they never come home the same person. Mine didn’t. He’s a wonderful husband but deals with constant pain and dealt with things he will never tell me. Injuries aren’t always visible. PTSD is a real thing and if you live with it every day you know how hard it is on them and how it can be draining on you. Being creative is a wonderful outlet and fiber arts allows a focus that is healing. I’ve done my research and I’ve looked at programs that are available and I know this building and all it will have to offer will be a great thing for a lot of people.
